lntroduction to Buddhism and MeditationTuesdays: October, November 2000 A course for those interested in meditation, in understanding their experience and the meaning of life, in developing tools for working with difficult emotions and in developing their positive qualities and abilities to the fullest... a course for all who are curious about Buddhism in the lineage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Section A: From the Very BeginningOctober 17, 24 and 31 Section A is designed for those who are quite new to Buddhism. We''ll introduce the two kinds of meditation, do some visualization and cover the basic views of Buddhism such as karma, rebirth, and the nature of mind and experience. There will be lots of opportunity for questions and answers. This section will be led by the director of DFF, Jesse Fenton, and a portion of the class will include selected video of Venerable Chodron's teachings. Section B: The Three Principles of the PathNovember 7, 14, 21 Section B will be taught by Venerable Thubten Chodron and although it is, loosely, a continuation of the first section and great for beginners, everyone else will enjoy this class as well. Venerable Chodron will give an overall view of the entire Buddhist path: the determination to be free, the aspiration for enlightenment in order to benefit all beings, and the view of emptiness.
RegistrationThe suggested donation for each 3-class section is $30. Teachings are given freely. Absolutely no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
